What a whirlwind this August has been! So many changes, so many new things. Between welcoming our new JETs to Gifu and taking over as your new ALT PA, life has been quite the ride lately! For those Gifu JETs who didn't have the opportunity to meet me at this year's Life and Work Orientations, I'm Laura, your new Prefectural Adviser for the 2018-2019 JET year. It's my fifth year on the program. Before moving to Gifu City for the PA role, I spent four years at Nakatsu High School in Nakatsugawa. Nakatsugawa and Gifu City are SO different! You have to admit that we Gifu JETs are lucky to be in a prefecture that offers so many different tastes of Japanese life. With both Life Ori and Work Ori now behind us, I'm excited to continue the rest of our JET year together! Let's make it a year to remember! :) I came to Japan four years ago, honestly wondering if I would be able to make it through an entire year of living abroad. I ended up loving our prefecture and the people in it so much that I stayed for four crazy good years, but now it is well time I return to California, land of no snow. Every year, I have been so inspired by all the JETs I have met here, each of whom truly brings something different and interesting to our Gifu-ken community. It's been my sincere pleasure being the ALT PA these last two years, and having the opportunity to meet and get to know each of you wonderfully amazing JET participants, whether it was at orientations and conferences or outside. Thank you for everything you have done for the JET Program, English education, and cultural exchange in Gifu. Most sincerely, good luck with wherever life takes you, keep up the swagger and stay absolutely awesome. Annnd I'm out. |
