*Check the above dates against the official contract given to you by your CO
We will be asking you to fill out a Handover Packet for your successors. If you haven't been, please collect your bills or pay attention to generally how much you spend so you can give them a rough estimate of how much they can expect to pay per month for rent/water/electric/etc.
It is frowned upon to take nenkyuu at the very end of your contract, thus finishing JET earlier than your official contract end date. Some COs will not allow it, despite summer vacation, as they feel you need to be there to help get ready for your successors. If you haven’t planned all your nenkyuu but want to use it, please try to use it prior to your last working week.
Contractual leaving details, such as booking flight tickets home, are organized by each CO, and so vary between JETs in Gifu: just because your friend was able to book a certain flight a certain way, doesn’t necessarily mean you will be allowed to as well. Your supervisor will provide you the details in regards to your own situation.
Although these dates seem far away, you should start to prepare to leave now to avoid spending your last night’s sleepless and stressed. If you are an outgoing JET, you will be receiving an e-mail from your RPAs with more specifics in the next few weeks, so look out for that.
National AJET has a Facebook page for leavers, which is a great resource with lots of common questions. Search Facebook for the group “Outgoing JETs”.
