The Gifu JET Stream
A blog brought to you by your PAs and RPAs to keep you updated on Gifu JETs.
![]() I came to Japan four years ago, honestly wondering if I would be able to make it through an entire year of living abroad. I ended up loving our prefecture and the people in it so much that I stayed for four crazy good years, but now it is well time I return to California, land of no snow. Every year, I have been so inspired by all the JETs I have met here, each of whom truly brings something different and interesting to our Gifu-ken community. It's been my sincere pleasure being the ALT PA these last two years, and having the opportunity to meet and get to know each of you wonderfully amazing JET participants, whether it was at orientations and conferences or outside. Thank you for everything you have done for the JET Program, English education, and cultural exchange in Gifu. Most sincerely, good luck with wherever life takes you, keep up the swagger and stay absolutely awesome. Annnd I'm out.

If you're anything like me, the floods at the beginning of July made us realize we need to be a bit more active in disaster preparation. Luckily none of our JETs were heavily effected by the flooding around the prefecture but it is a good idea to take the slower days of summer to make sure we are ready for a natural disaster.
We have updated the Natural Disaster Safety section of our website. Please take 5 minutes and read through it to make sure you are prepared. At very least please:
In response to calls for greater mental health support, CLAIR has made some changes to the JET Mental Health Counseling services. The two major changes are:
If you don't want to go through CLAIR, other JETs have recommended an app called Betterhelp. For only about 3000円 a month you can have counseling by text messaging, video chat or phone. The benefit of this versus the CLAIR online counseling is you can set this up without your CO or PA involvement and you can be guaranteed one counselor throughout the time using it, where as with the CLAIR service you do not always have this guarantee. For more information about mental health support check out our webpage: Mental Health Support Gifu AJET Sayonara EnkaiAll good things must come to an end and so Gifu AJET is holding its annual Sayonara Enkai to celebrate the closing of another wonderful year of JET in Gifu Prefecture and to say farewell to the departing JETs.
