JET participants are each employees of their contracting organizations. In Gifu, JET participants are employees of local municipalities (city, town, village etc) in the case of junior high school and elementary school JETs, a singular private institution in the case of private high school JETs, and the prefectural government in the case of public high school JETs.
JETs receive their contracts and terms and conditions to review before arrival whilst in their home country. When they arrive in Gifu they are asked to sign the contract. Each Gifu JET contract is based on a model provided by CLAIR to contracting organizations. Please keep in mind that they may change from person to person and (very likely) contracting organization to contracting organization.
If you are a current JET with questions about your contract, please talk to your supervisor as there is no standard Gifu JET contract, so they will have the most knowledge about your particular contract.
